About this project
The Omarama Hotel’s location at the junction of state highways 8 and 84 makes it a prominent South Island property, sitting at the gateway to the Mackenzie Country and Waitaki Valley. The original building was constructed in the early 1900s and had seen multiple additions and upgrades over the following century and a bit. Most recently, Shore Construction has undertaken a largescale commercial renovation.
The existing short term accommodation units were demolished, redesigned and rebuilt as five en-suited king rooms (plus manager accommodation unit) with additional storage and laundry facilities included. The new commercial kitchen and restaurant was designed and built as an addition to existing facilities, allowing more chillers to be added for beverage and food storage.
Outside, an al fresco dining and entertaining space features a large wood fire for a toasty ambience. A play space for children has been added to enhance the hotel’s family appeal. And finally, the entire facility has been repainted.
